1975 Honda CB250 G5. 12M MOT, DELIVERY AVAILABLE for sale
Up for grabs is this lovely little XXXX GX Honda. It has plenty of patina, runs great and rides great. I've blown the cobwebs out of it as it had been stood for quite some time, it now has fresh oil, plugs and new Excide battery. have also ultrasonically cleaned and re-built the carbs, plus I've re-built the front brake caliper and hanger as they had seized, fitting new pads and new stainless brake hose along the way. have been told that it will shortly be eligible for re-registering as historic vehicle so will be tax exempt and the front and rear black number plates will be legal, but for now don't think the law could be bothered to give you ticket for illegal plates as it's such an old bike already. have just had it MOT'd at my local garage in which it passed first time (no advisories) but the front nut slicer number plate had to be removed and fitted new yellow plate which will be included in the sale. The bike is fairly standard and unmolested but will mention that it doesn't have an air-box and uses k&n style filters but it runs fine without it. think the original filters (it has two) are quite expensive and looking at the photos of them they have rubbers fitted so I'm thinking they just push straight on to the carbs anyway? don't really know, however it runs fine and makes nice noise so wouldn't change them if were to keep it. Also, the original front brake pipe (copper pipe into rubber hose) was perished so it had to be replaced for stainless line, the bleed nipple has been snapped off in the past but it is still sealed and the brake was easily bled through the master cylinder so not an issue. All in all great bike to potter about on, it runs like sewing machine and is in good state considering it's age. Please don't expect minter because it's not, the engine could do with either polish (the lacquer has already been removed by previous owner) or re-paint and there are some signs of tin-worm in the front and rear mudguards as you would expect for its age. Don't get me wrong, nothings going to fall off in the near future but I'm trying to be straight forward so that the new owner knows what he/she is looking at. The kick starter has also stopped working, don't know why and as it's got electric start I'm not going to find out! Parts are easily available through david silver spares should you need them.I have the VX document and its current MOT certificate.I also have spare complete (untested) engine which will include in the sale at the asking price only. If you want to make me an offer on the asking price then will keep the spare engine and sell it seperatley. I can have this bike delivered to your door, locals will have the privilege of meeting me as own van or if you're bit too far away have trusted courier. Please message me and will give you quote. Timewasters will not be tolerated. Any questions please ask. ** UPDATE XX/X/XX**To all those who have asked, the spare engine is the same as the one in the bike (CBXXXE), the kick start works and it turns over freely (not seized). was told it was runner before being wrapped up for storage and have no reason to doubt this, judging by the way the previous owner has wrapped it up to keep the damp out. Also, must add, I'm not into 'text tennis' or messaging for days on end through ebay, so if you want to know something about the bike or wish to view it then please call me on XXXXXXXXXXX. have been in the motorcycle business for XX+ years now and my kettle is always on if you want to pop in for chat.I have also been asked few times what the courier use charges for delivery and to give you an idea he charges ??XX VAT for most of mainland UK.Thanks for looking.
