SUZUKI GS550 MOT'D RIDE OR RESTORE ORIGINAL UK CLASSIC MOTORCYCLE for sale
HAVE WAY TOO MANY OLD BIKES, CLASSIC JAP AND BRIT, ON THE ROAD, ANY ONE OF WHICH RIDE DAILY IN SUN RAIN OR SNOW. AS I'VE FOUND, RESTORED, OR BIULT FROM PARTS ONE THAT REALY LIKE HAVE JUST KEPT IT. TWO BIKES I'VE OWNED FOR OVER XX YEARS! IF DIDN'T HAVE TOO MANY THIS GS COULD HAVE BEEN ONE SUCH BIKE, I'VE ONLY OWNED IT COUPLE OF MONTHS, BUT IT'S LOVELY BIKE TO RIDE AND WOULDN'T TAKE MUCH TO BRING UP TO A STANDARD I'D BE HAPPY TO KEEP AS ONE OF MY COLLECTION.I WORK AS BIKE MECHANIC WHICH PAYS THE BILLS, AND WHEEL AND DEAL IN BIKES AND PARTS ON EBAY TO PAY FOR MY HOBBIE (BIKES). MET GUY AT AN AUTO JUMBLE WITH WHAT HE SAID WAS MINT, RESTORED, GSXXX, FANCIED SOMETHING NEW TO PLAY WITH SO BOUGHT IT. IT WASN'T QUITE AS DESCRIBED, IT HAD FEW MECHANICAL ISSUES WHICH IS THE NORM WITH MOST SHINEY RESTORED BIKES. (PEOPLE ARE ETHER GOOD AT MAKING THEM LOOK PRETTY, (HIM) OR GOOD AT THE MECHANICS, (ME) BUT IT'S EXTREMELY RARE TO FIND BLOKE WHO CAN DO BOTH. THIS GS HAS HAD FRAME, CHASSIS PARTS, WHEELS, POWDER COATED, NEW TYRES, CHAIN AND SPROCKETS, SHOCKS, BEARINGS, EXHAUST, SEAT RECOVERED, RESPRAYED PROPERLY WITH THE ORIGINAL PAINT, AND TRANSFERS LACQUERED OVER, AND LOTS OF OTHER STUFF, EVEN THE ORIGINAL ENGINE HAD BEEN STRIPED, POWDER COATED, AND REBIULT WITH REBORE, NEW CAM CHAIN, AND CLUTCH. BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE GUY TIMED THE VALVES WRONG AND BENT THEM! NOW THE GUY BOUGHT IT OFF BOUGHT IT. HE BOUGHT SECOND HAND ENGINE, SWOPED ALL THE NEW BITS OVER INCLUDING BARRELS AND PISTONS, CLUTCH, CAM CHAIN, AND THE POWDER COATED OUTER COVERS AND THEN BARELY RODE IT FOR THE NEXT SEVEN YEARS. NOW I'VE BOUGHT IT OFF HIM, AND STRAIGHT AWAY VERY ANNOYINGLY LOST ONE OF THE NICELY PAINTED SIDE PANELS ON THE MX ON MY WAY HOME! GUTTED! CARBS WERE OUT OF SYNC, CLUTCH BADLY ADJUSTED AND FEW OTHER MINOR ISSUES WHICH SORTED IN MY LUNCH HOUR. ONLY REAL PROBLEM NOW IS IT BURNS BIT OF OIL, MOSTLY ON START UP, IT'S NO BIG PROBLEM, BUT I'VE DECIDED TO SELL IT SO DON'T WANT TO TAKE THE HEAD OFF TO DO THE VALVE GUIDE SEALS, IT CLEARS AFTER FEW SECONDS AND RUNS FINE, I'VE DONE ABOUT XXX MILES AND IT'S BEEN REAL PLESURE TO RIDE. RELIABLE, COMFORTABLE, SMOOTH, NICE HANDLING. THERE ARE FEW OTHER SILLY PROBLEMS, LIKE IT'S MISSING SIDE PANEL! THE FUEL SENDER IS WORN SO THE GAUGE IS VERY ERRATIC, THE SPEEDO MAKES WHIRING NOISE OVER XX, (THE CLOCKS ARE FROM XXXM MODEL AND THE ENGINE HAS BEEN CHANGED ANYWAY SO MILEAGE IS IRRELEVANT), THERE'S SLIGHT PULSE FROM THE REAR BRAKE, AND THERE'S BIT OF KNACK TO STARTING IN THE REALY FREEZING COLD WEATHER. KNOW WHAT IT IS, BLOCKED CHOKE JETS IN THE FLOAT BOWLS, ANOTHER EASY FIX, BUT DON'T WANT TO TAKE THE CARBS OFF. IT WILL START IF YOU KNOW HOW, AND WHEN IT'S NOT FROZEN IN THE MORNING IT STARTS EASILY WITHOUT CHOKE, AFTER A MINUTE IT WILL TICK OVER QUITE SMOOTHLY AND EVENLY AT ABOUT XXXRPM, XX-XXXX WHEN IT'S WARMED UP, AND IT PULLS LIKE TRAIN FROM TICK OVER SO OTHER THAN THE CHOKE NONE OF THE CARBURATION ISSUES YOU FIND ON MOST RESTORED OLD BIKES. IF WERE KEEPING IT WOULD WANT TO GO THROUGH THE CARBS, (THEY COULD BE IMPROVED), AND SORT THE VALVE GIUDE SEALS. BUT ONCE COMMIT MYSELF TO DOING THE BIGGER JOBS ON IT I'D WANT TO EITHER KEEP IT OR I'D WANT A LOT MORE MONEY FOR IT. IT'S SOLD AS ONGOING PROJECT, IT'S SOLD AS SEEN, RIDE IT AWAY AND DO WHAT YOU WANT WITH IT. PEOPLE ARE ASKING REDICULOUS MONEY FOR GSXXX'S BUY NOW ON EBAY, SO IF YOU WANT ONE THIS IS BARGAIN AT THE AUCTION START PRICE. IF YOUR LIKE ME AND YOU LIKE TO FIDDLE THEN IT'S IDEAL. OR YOU COULD JUST RIDE IT. HAVE MOT'D IT TODAY, SO IT NOW HAS XX MONTHS MOT UNTILL XX'ND FEBUARY XXXX COLLECTION ONLY FROM SOUTH BIRMINGHAM BXX, JUST COUPLE OF MINUTES FROM JUNCTION OF THE MX OR OF THE MXX. WOULD LIKE DEPOSIT VIA PAYPAL WHEN THE AUCTION ENDS.
